Lambeth Residence Area: Air-conditioned suites. Conveniently located near the Barracks Road shopping center, the Corner, and the Lawn, Lambeth combines the features of On-Grounds accommodations with easy access to the offerings of the city of Charlottesville. Popular with many different age groups, Lambeth offers two and three bedroom air-conditioned apartments. The apartments contain a kitchen, a living/dining area, and either one and a half or two bathrooms. Each bedroom is furnished with two twin extra-long beds, two wardrobes, and two desks (only one person will occupy each bedroom). Laundry facilities, a computer lab, and vending machines are all available in centrally located Lambeth Commons.
Please email ral5q@virginia.edu the name of one other participant in the program that you would like to share the two-bedroom suite with during your stay. Roommate requests must be mutual. We will make every effort to accommodate your requests.
ECONOMY SERVICE: Guests are responsible for bringing their own bed linens, towels, and toiletries. If you are planning on bringing a fitted sheet, please note that the mattresses at the University of Virginia are sized twin extra-long. Regular twin flat sheets, comforters, and blankets will still fit the mattress. A mattress pad is provided for each bed. Economy Housekeeping Service is provided Monday through Friday. Housekeeping will clean the common living areas and common baths ONLY. Please remove all personal belongings from common areas in order to assist the Housekeeping staff with cleaning the areas; Housekeeping will deny service to any guest who does not comply with this request. Guests are responsible for removal of all personal refuse. Refuse must be bagged and placed in the appropriate dumpsters.
The lost key charges for the Lambeth Residence Area are: Room Key: $49.00 and Access Card: $10.00. To ensure appropriate billing in the event that keys are lost, each guest must provide a valid Visa or Master Card number at check-in. Please be prepared to provide this information when you check in. This credit card will not be charged unless you fail to return your keys by your scheduled checkout time. Please note that Conference Services cannot accept any keys mailed back to our office.
All University housing offers ROLM phones in each room. The lines are digital and cannot be used with computer modems. All University ROLM phones are equipped with individual voice mailboxes and pass codes. The pass code for your voice mailbox will be distributed at check-in. All phone lines are toll-restricted. A toll restricted line does not allow a caller to dial long distance directly; rather, all long distance calls must be charged to a credit card or be made collect.
Each room also comes equipped with an Ethernet jack for your use. You are responsible for providing your own Ethernet cable. If you have a computer with an Ethernet card, you will be able to utilize it in your room. If your computer does not have an Ethernet card, there are several public computer labs available for your use. A Conference Services staff member will be happy to point out the public lab closest to your housing area. If you bring a computer to grounds and wish to access the internet, you will be issued a password to enter the University's system at check in.
With the exception of service animals, no pets are allowed in the residence areas. Any guest that arrives with a pet will be denied housing and will not be refunded. Guests who unlawfully bring animals will be billed for the cost of fumigating their accommodations upon departure.
