INFORMATION ABOUT FACULTY
The 6000-level physics courses at the University of Virginia are professional development courses for K-12 teachers. Our 6000-level courses and programs serve the professional development needs of high school physics and middle school science teachers. Most of our 6000-level courses are suitable for a physics teaching endorsement or for recertification points. We also offer a Master of Arts in Physics Education (MAPE) degree that includes on-site 6000-level courses in the summer and distance-learning physics and physical science courses throughout the year. You may take these courses whether or not you are seeking a degree in physics education. These courses (including the MAPE degree) do not qualify as graduate-level courses to prepare you to teach at the college level including teaching dual enrollment courses and community college physics courses.
